My final year project needs micro-controller pic18 interfacing with stepper motor. I need some help with the coding and interfacing.
I've got two motors available in uni, but i don't know which one to choose.
one is with 4 phase, 6 wires, unipolar and the other on is 4 phase, 4 wires, bipolar

unipolar are simpler. go with that.

Thank you very much sir. I saw the schematic diagram for the connection of L293d and the stepper motor. however, i wanna know whether I connect the L293d directly to the Pic kit or i need to do a circuit with the gates, to get the correct pulse.

you can directly connect L293D to PIC controller. I suggest make a schematic first, post your schematic here for a review then do actual hardware connections.
