To be frank even i don't know I bought this modem from bangalore. when i bought
this i dint had any idea regarding GSM modems. I bought this one year ago.. The shop owner said its a
very good product so i bought it, and YES what he said is right its excellent modem and works
flawlessly!! It has a very good external antenna that makes communication much easier without any
problems associated with signal.

and If I remember correctly, then you can even program this modem uses a Wavecom modem (now Sierra Wireless). they provide OpenAT suite with which you can directly program into your modem and no need of any other microcontroller. See if you can get OpenAT Suite from Sierra wireless website.
PS: I am not sure if they still support old model modems.
