Expert's Help Needed: Gsm Security system Using Cell Info Display

I m gona start ma new project on GSM vehical security system using 8051 or PIC uC. The security system is based on Cell info Display reterived from the respective GSM network (As in Pakistan Telenor offers such facilty that it shows the location of the respective place or the transmiter of which it is connnected. ) so plz guide me how to get the cell info and which cell phone to use and how to send back the collected data to a predefined number..

Note: please i want an urgent response of the experts using this great community..

u may use GPS. bcz ur gsm network provider may not allow..

what kind of GSM modem are you going to use?
the info you will get using AT Commands. Controller will supply AT Command to know cell broadcast information of that cell site. You can use that information in your project. Most important is GSM modem you are going to use.

well bro suggest me a gsm modem.. or better if u ill suggest me any mobile phone bcz it wiil be easy for me to get it localy..and also let me know tha AT Commands to fetch the cell info. i need ur full support bro...

getting a right phone is most important. see if you can get sony erricsson T610. it supports AT Commands.

Those commands are more than enough. You can search for AT Command manual for sony erricsson. Basic commands are universal and are same for every phone or gsm modem.
